Lusa, the Portuguese news agency, reports that Construction Worker’s Trade Union of Portugal said this week that Portuguese workers in NATO construction in Brussels are working 14 hours per day, receiving 7 euros per hour, while their Belgium colleagues with the same professional category, working by their side, get 16 euros per hour.
In each sleeping space designed for 2 people have been installed 7 migrant workers, with no proper space to range their clothes, which have to be kept in the traveling bags they took from home.
Due to the crisis of the sector in Portugal, thousands of Portuguese construction workers are being brought to Belgium in buses by unregistered agents and offered as low-cost labour to local and multinational companies in charge of big construction works.
